The Activity Tracker is an Opal Logic module developed for Jiwa Financials. It is used to track income and expenses against activities, tasks, groups, or simple jobs without needing the full Job Costing module.
Activity Tracker can be used where a business needs to monitor selected income and costs across different areas of Jiwa. Activities can be assigned to transactions, reviewed from the Activity Maintenance form, and reported on using activity transaction and profit and loss reports.
When to use Activity Tracker
Activity Tracker is useful where you need visibility over income, costs, and profitability for a specific activity, but do not need the full structure of Job Costing.
It may be suitable where you need to:
-
track income and expenses against simple jobs, campaigns, events, projects, departments, or activities
-
report on profitability for a selected activity
-
group related activities using parent and child activity relationships
-
review transactions linked to an activity
-
update the activity code assigned to a transaction line where required
Activity Tracker vs Job Costing
Choosing between Activity Tracker and Job Costing depends on how much structure and control is required.
Activity Tracker is generally better suited to simpler tracking requirements where income and expenses need to be grouped and reported. Job Costing is better suited to more detailed job management where the business needs cost centres, stages, budgets, estimates, work in progress, progress billing, finished goods, or time and materials billing.

How Activity Tracker works
Activities are created and maintained in the Activity Maintenance form. Once created, activity codes can be assigned to transaction lines so that income and expenses can be grouped, reviewed, and reported against the activity.
Activity Tracker reporting can then be used to review activity transactions and activity-based profit and loss information.
If you have a specific requirement that is not currently met by Activity Tracker, please contact Opal Logic on 1300 456 725 or email support@opallogic.com.au to discuss your needs.
